Leech Lake Fishing Report for Tuesday, June 22, 2021
It’s another beautiful morning on Leech Lake, we’ve had some cooler temperatures here in the Walker, MN area the last few days along with some much needed rain, with that the water temps on leech lake have stayed pretty contestant. The fishing has continued to stay pretty steady across leach lake.
Guys looking for those leech lake walleyes are still going to be looking for that 17-25 ft range on the south shores. Make sure you are packing extra rods with you to have a few different techniques.
Key Techniques to find Leech Lake Walleye in mid summer:
1. Spinner rigs with crawlers, trolling at 1 – 1.5 mph – a bigger blade is going to find you a better quality walleye – # 4 Colorado blade in gold, copper, fire tigers and orange – especially with the crawfish in leech lake
2. Find the fish with your fishing electronics, drift through the fish with a Lindy rig
3. Slip bobbers – weed edges, look for the fish and throw you bobber right on top of them The walleye are starting to move to their summer patterns so you need to move around more and look for them more and you will be able to catch your limit.
Leech Lake Small Mouth Bass:
For those Leech Lake small mouth bass, look off of Diamond Point, Rogers Point, around Pipe Island. They are up shallow, look in less than 10 ft of water by the rocks using any plastics, crawfish patterns, ned rigs are all working for those Leech Lake small mouth bass.
Leech Lake Muskies:
Muskies are starting to move to the off-site structure, we have had a few guests land their Leech Lake Muskie the past week. Look around Pelican Island, diamond point and bear Island.
We are in the middle of the bug hatch, we are hopefully coming to the end of that. we have seen about a week and a half of bugs on the south shore of leech lake. Once they disappear, the walleyes will get into their summer patterns. If you are looking to fish Leech Lake, check out our last minute availability on boat rentals.
