Leech Lake is really a snowmobiler’s paradise. The third largest lake in Minnesota has 195 miles of shoreline and 100,000 acres of surface—and it freezes over completely in the winter. There are trails all over the area, including 300 miles worth in the Chippewa National Forest, along with backcountry roads.
“We are right in the heart of all the snowmobiling,” bartender Matt Billig says.
Matt is also an expert in one of the most important parts of snowmobiling: beer. Our bar is open from 5pm to close every Friday and Saturday. Rail drinks are $4 and domestic bottles start at $3.50. (Domestic draft at $4). We also do Heggie’s frozen pizzas if you’d like to snack. If you’re looking for a stop when we’re not open, there are several nearby options.
Don’t have a snowmobile? Boats and Beyond Rental in Nisswa, MN (an hour south) will rent by the day or two-day block, and also rents helmets, jackets, bibs, and gloves. You can pick it up (nearby Brainerd General Rental rents trailers, too) or they’ll even deliver to Trapper’s for an additional fee (two day minimum). Boat and Beyond also sits near the Paul Bunyan trail if you just want to park and ride for a day. For more information check out their website or call (218)963-7700.
