At Trapper’s Landing Lodge on the main lake, we have 10-12 inches of ice out to Huddle’s reef, Diamond Point, Variety Reef, and Rogers Point. We are open to ATV, Snowmobile and Side-by-Side traffic. If you wish to pull out a single axel ice house up to 18 ft with an ATV or Side-by-Side you are able to this weekend. We will not be allowing any ½ ton trucks or regular vehicle traffic. We have some good ice making the weather in the forecast and are hoping that we will have vehicle traffic the following weekend. Please stay tuned.
Walleye fishing has been slow during the day for most anglers on our end of the lake, but good during the lowlight hours. Most the fish are being caught during the lowlight are being found off the secondary shoreline breaks in 15-20 ft of water. Jigging spoons plus minnow heads with a bobber line down close by are catching most of the fish.
Panfish in the area remains really good. Most of the Crappie and Bluegill have moved into the basins on the smaller lakes around Trapper’s Landing Lodge. Drilling out and keeping on the move is a good way to find these fish. Use your favorite plastic and small jigs or #3 rippin’ raps to find these fish.
The Merit is open this weekend Thursday-Saturday. We have a great fish fry Friday Night and Maple Smoked Prime Rib Special on Saturday. Also, make sure you stop by the office to check-in for Ice Road Access and grab a map. We can get a more up-to-date report. We look forward to seeing you on the ice.
